Framed Repro Antique Photo: Kameido Shrine & Wisteria

This photo is a reproduction of an excellent quality hand tinted photograph from the Meiji period.

Hand tinted photographs became popular just after the turn of the 19th century in Japan, in the late Meiji period. It was the only way to bring natural colour to the photograph and was considered an art form, not necessarily affordable to all.

Now it is made available to you, with the same handmade texture and quality preserved, and artfully presented with black matt and frame with glass cover.

It is perfect as a gift or as an artistic contribution to the office wall.

Frame size: 10" x 8" (picture size: 7" x 5")

In this photo:
The kameido Tenjin Shrine was established in the heart of Tokyo in 1662 and so favoured that Hiroshige chose it for one of his prints.

Known for its wooden drum bridge and sweet-smelling wisteria, creating a peaceful enclave in the heart of a city, here enjoyed by a group of kimono-clad visitors on the bridge.
